    Event – Operation Christmas Child

Alternate Please click on the image for a form.

Having recently had the opportunity to meet with a representative of ‘Samaritans Purse’, we have been moved to go beyond our personal annual Shoe Box preparations, and decided to email all our clients and associates about this worthy cause.

For those who might not be entirely aware, 'Operation Christmas Child’ (OCC), is an arm of Samaritans Purse which is a U.K registered charity. OCC has been in function for the last 22 years giving children across the globe something extra special at Christmas time - all inside a Shoebox. Their efforts have also focused on areas affected by Natural disaster and War. This year, OCC intend to trek alongside some of the Syrian refugees with these special gifts of love.

There are many valuable causes these days, as we see so much need around us and we are certain that many support such, however, please do consider the big impact of the little Shoebox.

If you would like to, you could donate either by -

  • a) visiting this link and your donation will help OCC will prepare a box in your name, or
  •

  • b) putting together your own Shoebox for either a girl or a boy between the ages of 2-4, 5-9 or 10-14 years. You could either drop the Shoebox at a collection point or drop it off at our offices and we will take it to a collection point for you.
  •

Taking time to pack a Shoebox online or shopping for a child somewhere out there to whom a couple of colour pencils, a toy, a toothbrush, notebook, scarf etc., might make a memory they will cherish for life!

Please remember that to get to their destinations on time, the boxes have to reach collection centres by the 18th of November 2015 the latest.

The work began informally some months before with some strategic discussions regarding the concept and general sustainability ethos. Gruhe is currently working on the space requirements which will help the client refine the generic brief. We have also begun drafting a concept paper which will inform the direction of the masterplan.

News – ‘Planning Permission – Detached Dwelling, Harborne’

With a positive start to 2014, Gruhe Architects secured planning permission for a detached dwelling on behalf of a private client on the footprint of an existing house. Owing to the submission of more than 5 written objections to the proposals, which were contrary to the recommendation of the designated planning officer, the application was sent to Committee who approved the proposals.

The internal layouts were essentially driven by the requirement of the clients, however the scale and proportions (of the existing house), surrounding dwellings, landscape and access were well considered in the design of the new house to ensure that the development was visually pleasing and sensitive to its context.
